The business was founded in 1824 by Sir Alexander Ramsay, one of the Scottish landowners who campaigned to license Scotch Whiskey distillation. He was also one of the first to apply for a license, which he applied to Fettercairn. Noticeable oak and earthy heft on the nose. Brown sugar, brown butter, Jaffa Cakes, dark chocolate, and hazelnuts. Not too tropical here, but a hint of something like mango salsa. Not so much overt sherry either, at least not at first.
