Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made exclusively from barley that is milled through the distillery's Porteus mill before being mashed and then fermented in stainless steel washbacks. Following fermentation, the whisky is distilled once through Aberfeldy's copper-pot wash stills and then again through its copper-pot spirit stills. Then, Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Single Malt is matured in a combination of casks that were previously used to mature bourbon and casks that were previously used to mature sherry.

As a result, the whisky has an aroma of toasted malt, honey, fruit cake and citrus that give way to notes of heathered smoke, caramel, creamy vanilla and ash. The finish is long and spicy, with a touch of charcoal and stone fruits.

21 years of aging has added dignity to Aberfeldy's distinctive heather honey softness. The taste lingers like a fine liqueur with its long, dry finish enhanced by notes of mature Seville oranges, spices, vanilla, and sandalwood. Sip and savor this exclusive whisky.

This richly textured dram is matured in a combination of ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon oak casks for 21 years. Over two decades of resting in oak has added an overall richness; wood exerts its influence but doesn’t overwhelm. Abounding in heather honey, creamy macadamia nuts and chewy beeswax. Plush with dried fruits, toasted coconut, silky oak and a wee trace of smoke.

Aberfeldy's 21-year-old was re-launched with a new design in 2015 and lies within their core range of bottlings (12, 16, 18, 21 & 28 year olds). It's a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks and has won several gold medals and 'best in show' awards. It's a whisky that has always held a soft spot in my heart, and one to this day which I still use as a 'learning tool' for introducing newbies to the woodier flavors which can be associated with longer periods of cask maturation.
