The Fettercairn Distillery has some serious history behind it. The business was founded in 1824 by Sir Alexander Ramsay, one of the Scottish landowners who campaigned to license Scotch Whiskey distillation. He was also one of the first to apply for a license, which he applied to Fettercairn. Interestingly, Ramsay employed illegal whiskey makers to be his first stillmen.

Amber hued, sun-warmed and rich with our signature tropical house style, our 12-Year-Old is the ideal welcome to Fettercairn and a memorable introduction to the world of whisky. Matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, this single malt embodies the care we take from grain to glass.

Matured 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks.

Wine Enthusiast 2025 Rating: 93 Pts.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Fairly light and sweet. Fresh apples, citrus, and some bananas. A sort of grist and bready malt character. A little bit of oak.

Palate: Medium-light texture. Arrives with sweet malt and vanilla. Develops… well I’ll be, it’s a little tropical. Some slightly tart notes of mango and passionfruit. Moderate oak and vanilla as well.

Finish: Medium-short. Creamy white chocolate and vanilla. Caramel apples and more sweet malt. Peach and a lingering little bit of pineapple.

Matured 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks.
