Fuji Gotemba Distillery lies at the foot of Japan's iconic Mount Fuji and is one of the few distilleries in Japan to have its own bottling plant and cooperage. A blend of three different types of grain whiskies: Bourbon heavy style, Canadian style, Scotch Style.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Auburn, tawny with a hint of orange. Bright amber with a muddied tint. Legs are scattered and crooked, unevenly spaced, and moving quickly.
On the nose: Fuji has a very inviting nose. It’s bold and confident but not overpowering, somewhere between Rye and Brandy. You’ll get notes of apples, bananas, pears joined with baked fruits, cinnamon and liquorice.
In the mouth: Thick and very soft texture. The cocoa from the nose comes across more as dark chocolate on the palate, then morphs into dulce de leche on the mid palate. The sweetness mellows and loses the confectionery touch as it becomes dried apple. Red wine notes come in at the end with a bit of fruitiness and a drying element.
