Royal Liverpool
Rioja Finish
Celebrating the 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool, this 22-year-old malt perfectly showcases Loch Lomond's adeptness and ingenuity in whisky making. Aged in American oak to create a complex whiskey, it features the signature fruit, honey, and soft smoke only found in Loch Lomond malts.
It celebrates every Open Championship from the 1st ever at Prestwick, in 1860 through to the 151st Open this year at Royal Liverpool. A flavor profile showcasing soft honey, pineapple, mango and toasted oak.
The distillery partnered with its golf ambassador – legendary player Colin Montgomerie – to create this celebratory whisky. It’s matured initially in American oak casks before being finished in ex-Rioja red wine casks, adding layers of berries and dark chocolate to Loch Lomond’s signature orchard fruit and soft smoke.
Tasting Notes:
This 2000-vintage whisky shows a different side of the distillery’s character. Made with organic barley and offering less smokiness than others in the Loch Lomond stable, its 22 years in organic-certified American oak casks have amplified the fruitiness of the spirit, revealing pineapple, mango and honey.
